AER Symposium: First Announcement and Call for Papers

The 27th Symposium of AER will be held from 17 to 20 October in Munich, Germany, organized by GRS. The Symposium continues the series of annual meetings of the international association “Atomic Energy Research” on VVER reactor physics and safety research. The Symposium is open to participants from AER member organizations as well as from other institutions involved or interested in VVER reactor physics and safety research.

Schedule and Topics of the Symposium

The schedule will be published after the abstract submission deadline. Papers are requested on the following topics, related to VVER reactor physics and safety:
1.    advances in spectral and core calculation methods,
2.    reactor physics experiments and code validation (benchmarks),
3.    fuel management issues,
4.    core surveillance and monitoring,
5.    reactor dynamics and safety analysis,
6.    nuclear applications of computational fluid dynamics (CFD),
7.    fuel behavior in normal conditions,
8.    intermediate storage of spent fuel, decommissioning and radwaste,
9.    spent fuel disposal and actinide transmutation.
Additionally, progress reports of the AER working groups will be presented.

Participation and registration

The registration is closed.

Participants from AER member organizations may take part in the Symposium without a registration fee. Non-AER participants are charged with a registration fee of 100 €. A representative of AER will handle the fee payment at the Symposium. The Symposium proceedings are included in the fee.

Papers, proceedings and working language

Deadline for submitting a 200-300 word abstract is August 14, 2017. Please use the abstract template to prepare the abstract including all necessary information (list of authors, abstract title, abstract text) using the prepared text styles. Send the abstract by e-mail to aer2017 [at] (.)
Please reference the symposium topics to which your paper is related. The abstracts will be included in the Symposium proceedings. They will also be handed to the participants on USB flash drives during the Symposium.

The working language of the Symposium and of the papers is English. The duration of each presentation should not exceed a maximum of 20 minutes.

Accommodation during the Symposium will be available at Hotel Maritim. A hotel room block was reserved, with rooms available from October 14 to October 20, including the weekend before the Symposium. Early reservation is encouraged. After August 14, 2017 the block reservation will no longer be valid. The prices for hotel accommodation (in €/day), depending on the room type, are as follows:

For booking your rooms please use the booking form on the hotel website. In order to get a room from the block reservation, please enter the code “AER2017GRS” in the dedicated “Booking code” slot.

Early reservation is encouraged. After August 14, 2017 the block reservation will be no longer valid, and rooms at Hotel Maritim cannot be guaranteed.
Lunches during the Symposium will be provided, but dinners, apart from the traditional Symposium dinner, will not be included.
