Research Data Scientist / Research Data Analyst (m/f/d)

GRS is a non-profit, independent research and expert organisation that is primarily active on behalf of the Federal Government. Its work focuses on nuclear safety and final disposal as well as radiation and environmental protection.

For the Safety Analyses department located in Garching, we are looking for a

                                                  Research Data Scientist / Research Data Analyst (m/f/d)

Your tasks

  • development of analysis methods and implementation of scientific software for the investigation of complex technical systems to assess safety
  • in the context of complex simulation codes the focus will be on advanced approaches to uncertainty and sensitivity analysis (using inter alia machine learning concepts)
  • in the context of complex technical systems the focus will be on complex network analysis methods
  • development of generic and sustainable software solutions as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • application of the developed analysis tools to perform safety studies
  • presentation and communication of scientific results

Your qualifications

  • university degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics or related fields with a focus on computational statistics, data science or machine learning
  • experience with probabilistic modelling of complex systems and statistical analysis of complex data
  • solid practical experience in software engineering with Python (also in C++ is a plus) and object-oriented software development
  • experience with data science and machine learning and the respective tools and technologies e.g.: sklearn, pandas, sqlAlchemy, etc.
  • experience with common development environments and version control (Git, SVN)
  • responsible and strong team player with the willingness to join in and lean in within our interdisciplinary team
  • fluent written and spoken German and English
