(GRS-631) SUSA Software for Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analyses - Classical Methods

M. Kloos, N. Berner

The tool SUSA (Software for the Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analyses) was developed to facilitate the performance of uncertainty and sensitivity analyses based on Monte Carlo simulation. It combines well established methods from probability calculus and mathematical statistics with a comfortable graphical user interface (GUI). The concept of SUSA enables the user to fully concentrate on the analysis input including the identification of the input parameters which represent the main uncertainty sources of the result of the applied computer code and the formulation of the uncertainties of the identified parameters. After this is done, SUSA provides support to quantify the parameter uncertainties probabilistically and to perform the further analysis steps from the sampling of parameter values, over the launching of corresponding computer code runs to the calculation of statistics indicating the uncertainty and sensitivity of the computational result. In this manual, the methods applied in SUSA to perform an uncertainty and sensitivity analysis are described in detail.
